In 1912, the government of Japan gave a wonderful gift to the city of Washington DC – 3000 beautiful Cherry Blossom Trees. That year, the trees were planted around the Tidal Basin, and ever since have been celebrated annually in Late March-Early April. They are not to be missed. Sitting on the edge of the Tidal Basin are the Jefferson, FDR, and MLK Jr. Memorials, as well as a paddleboat rental dock that has proven popular with tourists and locals alike.
